The Owensboro Regional Farmers Market starts April 22nd for the 2017 season! There will be many different types of plants, early produce, eggs, meat and maybe other goodies! Kramer Homestead will be there with some types of bedding plants, some early produce like lettuce. We will also have our all year items such as our many types of meat (lamb, beef, and pork) as well as our farm fresh eggs.
Many people don’t come to the market until around Memorial Day. There could be two reasons for this: people don’t know it opens in April or they don’t think there will be anything to buy in April and early May. There is defiantly not as much variety as in June, but there are still year-round products like meat and eggs as well as bedding plants such as vegetable plants, herbs, and flowers. There will also be some early produce there like lettuce, radishes, and green onions. So please come out and see what the market has to offer!
Last year we had events on a few of the Saturdays during the season. This year, the market is hoping to have an event every Saturday! The first event on the first day of the season is Earth Day Opening of the FM! The second week is Pet Appreciation Week! So pleases bring your pets! But please note that all animals must be on leashes.
The Market is also working on raising money for a permanent building on our new site. This is our second season selling at this site across from the old hospital located at the corner of Triplett Street and Parish Avenue from 8:00am - 1:00pm. We are there every Saturday from April 22nd to the end of October and Tuesdays and Thursdays starting the first of June and goes through the end of October.
There is also a market at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30pm - 5:00pm going from mid-May to August. Kramer Homestead will most likely not be attending the Wednesday market, but some vendors will and will have a variety of products.
You can visit the Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market website to find out more. We hope to see you there April 22nd!
