Maggie's Farm Egg and Poultry Shares

Picture
On this page, find what you need to know about Egg Shares and poultry Meat Shares. We are not currently offering meat shares because we simply don't have enough birds for eggs and meat. Hopefully that will come in the future. We are offering egg shares on a very limited basis. If you'r interested in one, let us know and we'll decide from there.

If you don't see what you need, check out our Poultry FAQ.

Still can't find something? Drop a line via our contacts page on the Front Porch.

Egg Shares

Picture
Purchasing egg shares guarantees you eggs from healthy, uncaged laying hens. Most of the year they are free to roam and wander (but since they tend to start laying eggs under every tree and bush, we pen them up from time to time). There are spring, summer, and winter shares that coincide with the CSA garden seasons. When we have an abundance, eggs may also be available year round at the farm.

EGG SHARE SEASONS: Spring: Feb-June; Summer: June-Oct; Winter: Oct - Feb
A standard egg share is 1 dozen per week.
A half share is 1 dozen every other week.
As with other share types, Egg Shares may be purchased in multiples.
Please help us re-use cartons.

Poultry Shares

We have pasture raised, cage-free chickens and turkeys as well as waterfowl (limited availability) on pasture to produce nutritious, great-tasting heritage poultry! You will not find better tasting or healthier fowl than a heritage bird grown on pasture. (For more about breeds and husbandry practices please click here.)

CHICKEN

TURKEY

Since our relocation in October 2019, we are on hiatus from turkey raising.

DUCK or GOOSE

Picture
Since our relocation in October 2019, we are on hiatus from duck and goose raising.  Our new farm doesn't have the water features of our old farm in Indiana so it's hard to tell when or if we will be able to  reintroduce any. I

In the past, our preferred ducks were the heritage Cayuga. We've had quite an adventure with geese and will have to tell that story sometime!
